Looks like the Castor-bean Tick Ixodes ricinus to me. Common on sheep
and most domestic animals. Usually attaches itself to the ears, eyelids
and other parts of the head.

Subject: [Adastra] Tick ID request
A friend brought me the tick photographed here today:
http://tinyurl.com/32xr2g
It was between the ears of one of her horses kept in a field here in
Sedlescombe.
Does anyone know what species it might be?
