Female stag beetle in my Woodcote garden 1st June . Badger has probably
dug up & eaten lots more as there is a big hole under a birch stump. Has
anyone investigated how many stagbeetles / larvae might be consumed by
badgers??
Plus 1 male & 1 female Platycnemis pennipes in front garden Woodcote,
2nd June.

Subject: [Adastra] Stag Beetles
Hi Everyone,
On Saturday at dusk I saw at least seven male Stag Beetles all around an
Ivy-clad tree, looking for females perhaps? It was a wonderful sight, I
had forgotton how impressive they are!
This is an email to ask for any Stag beetle sightings that you may have
over the next month or so. The males are very obvious when flying with a
body length of between 25-75 mm and huge mandibles and the female is
30-45 mm and has very small mandibles. You may find Stag Beetle larvae
in your garden if you have dead wood.
Heres a good web link: http://tinyurl.com/335th9 for pictures of males,
females, larvae and other interesting information.
Let me know if you find any! Please use this email:
